Open City is a culture and education project that has been operating in Saint Petersburg since 2016.
Open City is a long-term project of free tours to various historic locations in Saint Petersburg, including access to cultural heritage sites that are usually not accessible to general public.
The project is being realized by the Saint Petersburg Regional Office of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture and the Committee on State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Landmarks of Saint Petersburg.

The Open City project will offer tours to city residents around a number of historic locations in the city. The project allows the participants to visit various cultural heritage sites: mansions, palaces, manor estates, administrative buildings, educational institutions and sites of industrial architecture which are usually closed to the general public.

Participants will be able to choose the format of the tour that suits them best:
- walking and bus tours,
- retro tram and trolleybus tours,
- tours by bike and scooter,
- treasure hunts and photomarathons for children and adults,
- workshops and interactive tours for school children,
- lectures on the history, architecture and culture of Saint Petersburg.

There will be a total of 1000 events at more than 100 cultural heritage sites held from April to December 2019. More than than 23,000 are expected to take part in the project.
